Rarely have I finished such a bad show, but I wanted to review this, so I gave it a fair shot. And I’ll never regain that lost time.
It is maddeningly confusing, disoriented; I never knew where characters were or when things were happening, or even who they were sometimes. That this could have been addressed so easily and would have drastically improved the show makes it an unforgivable oversight. At times it feels like the first draft of a show with huge potential that has been released without any editing.
It’s also unsatisfying. For a supposed monster-of-the-week show, it has disappointingly few monsters or fighting scenes. And those it does have aren’t good. It is a big world with races, beasts, magics, history, and lore, but none of these elements matter because there is absolutely no world building.
But there’s no character building either. I often felt as if they intended the show as a sequel to the game, that if you aren’t familiar with the series then you won’t understand the show.
The last couple episodes ever so slightly improve, but it is much too little far too late. Not recommended.
